HKEX’s Corporate Communications team is responsible for helping to manage HKEX’s brand and reputation by developing communications strategies and messaging, in order to engage with our employee, customer, investor, shareholder and community audiences. As an Intern or Assistant, you will get involved in a broad range of internal and external communications support activities including the development of social media campaigns, supporting CSR events and programmes, development of content for newsletters and announcements.
Group Finance Division is responsible for the HKEX’s financial, regulatory and management reporting, accounting operations and budgetary control, formulation of Group financial control policies and tax planning strategy, management of the Group’s liquidity, investments and foreign exchange risk. The Division also provides facility management and housekeeping services to support our data centers and offices. The day-to-day accounting operations for HKEX, London Metal Exchange (LME) and Qianhai Mercantile Exchange (QME) are managed by the respective Finance teams in Hong Kong, London and Shenzhen. As an Intern or Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting our financial analysis, budgeting, financial and treasury reporting, projects and will gain hands-on experience in accounting operations.
Group Risk Management
Group Risk Management Division provides risk management oversight and advisory services to the operations teams across HKEX; balancing the commercial needs of the organization with financial and operational stability and its mandate for public interest. Group Risk Management Division will focus on financial risk management (market, credit and liquidity risk) across our markets, post-trade and corporate treasury management operations. As an Intern or Assistant, you will support the team with projects related to quantitative risk modeling and development, credit risk management and risk policy and strategy.
Group Strategy & Projects
Group Strategy & Projects Division is responsible for supporting the development of new HKEX initiatives and platforms by working with a wide-range of internal business functions, as well as external industry participants. The Division is comprised of four departments: Group Strategy, Innovation Lab, Investor Relations and Project Management. In planning and executing change programmes to drive efficiency, improve market transparency, reduce operational risk, and consolidate HKEX’s international competitiveness and market position; the team work to realize the initiatives contained within HKEX’s Strategic Plan. As an Intern or Assistant, you will support the team through project management, research analysis and reporting.
Human Resources Division inspires and enables our colleagues to make the most of their careers at HKEX; helping them, and our business, to deliver upon our corporate vision and strategic plan. We comprise a range of functions from Recruitment & Selection, Payroll & Staff Benefits, Employee Relations, Policy Formulation and Learning & Development. As an Intern or Assistant, you will become involved in a broad-range activity from reviewing HR operating policies and procedures, to focusing on data analytics and employee engagement initiatives.
Information Technology Division is responsible for managing all operations associated with HKEX’s platforms and infrastructure. This includes technology architecture and the implementation of next generation HKEX platforms, as well as, providing robust cybersecurity practices. As an Intern or Assistant, you will gain practical experience by participating in IT delivery projects; helping you to develop key IT development skills in order to collaborate with IT and business partners. The internship will help you to build a stronger knowledge of managing complex IT projects.
Internal Audit Division provides independent assurance and advisory services over governance, risk management, internal controls and other matters to management and the Board; and it serves as an advisor to make recommendations to enhance the Group’s control environment and process efficiencies. The Division reports directly to the Board through the Audit Committee and administratively to the Chief Executives of HKEX, LME and LMEC. The team has dedicated resources in Hong Kong and London. As an Intern or Assistant, you’ll be based within our operational audit and IT audit teams in Hong Kong. The focus of the roles will be on supporting our respective audit teams in conducting audits; performing research on specific business and system areas, analyzing processes, performing compliance and substantive testing, examining artefacts, as well as, gathering and analyzing data.
Legal & Regulatory Compliance
The Legal & Regulatory Compliance Division is responsible for providing legal advisory services and for overseeing the regulatory compliance functions of HKEX. As an Intern or Assistant, you may apply for either the Legal Services role or the Regulatory Compliance role. The Legal Services role will assist in conducting legal research, providing legal analysis, drafting and reviewing legal documents, and carrying out ad-hoc tasks as assigned. The Regulatory Compliance role will assist in the drafting of compliance policies, monitoring local and international developments in the regulatory and compliance space, conducting benchmarking research, reviewing HKEX marketing materials, preparation of compliance training materials and carrying out ad-hoc tasks assigned.
Listing & Regulatory Affairs
The Listing team is responsible for supervising the listing process, the ongoing compliance by issuers with their obligations under the Listing Rules, and ensuring those rules reflect best international practices. It is organized into eight functions comprising IPO Advisory and Projects, IPO Vetting, Listed Issuer Regulation, Listing Enforcement, Policy and Secretariat Services & Support, Structured Products and Fixed Income, Primary Market Information and Accounting Affairs. As an Intern or Assistant, you will have the opportunity to support the day-to-day operations of the team through research, preparation of presentation materials and by carrying out a wide-range of ad-hoc tasks assigned.
HKEX's Mainland Development Division is responsible for Mainland business development by initiating and supporting all Mainland-related strategic projects including connectivity programmes by working closely with various regulators, exchanges, clearing houses and industry associations in the Mainland. The Division also handles relevant Mainland regulatory policies and changes, recommends and helps to implement business solutions, designs and organizes related market education and training programs; and carries out HKEX group business promotional initiatives in the Mainland. As an Intern or Assistant, you will support the team through project management, research analysis and reporting.
The Markets Division comprises the cash & derivatives trading, global issuer services, global client development, equities & exchange traded product development, and the market data businesses of HKEX. The Division has a broad range of functions and responsibilities, ranging from promoting HKEX as an IPO destination, managing the operations of the cash & derivatives markets, managing global client relationships, designing and developing financial products, and managing the sales and development of market data products. As an Intern or Assistant, you will have the opportunity to support the day-to-day operations of the Hong Kong securities and derivatives markets and participate in the development of business initiatives, both within the Markets Division and in cross-divisional projects.
The Market Development Division is responsible for developing new revenue and product initiatives in both the international and Mainland markets, with a focus on our Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) businesses and related Mainland marketing, developing projects, overseeing Qianhai Mercantile Exchange (QME), and incubating and executing strategic projects outlined in our 3-year Strategic Plan. As an Intern or Assistant, you will have an opportunity to assist teams through conducting research and data analysis, producing reports and attending a broad-range of industry events and meetings.
The Post Trade Division is responsible for the operation and business development of the four Clearing Houses in Hong Kong. The team provides clearing and settlement services for securities, on-exchange derivatives and Over-the-Counter (OTC) derivatives transactions. The Division also has risk management and market surveillance responsibilities, helping to uphold the integrity of the Hong Kong market. As an Intern or Assistant, you will support our teams with research, project management and carrying out ad-hoc tasks, in order to support our enhanced provision of cross-asset class products and services.
