Partner and Head of Derivatives and Structured Products Asia (ex Japan)
Mr Chin-Chong Liew is a Partner and Head of Derivatives and Structured Products Asia (ex Japan) in Linklaters. Widely recognised as a market leader in sophisticated derivatives products and structured finance, Mr Liew has considerable experience in over-the-counter derivatives, structured equity, structured credit, market access and fund-linked products across Asia. He has acted as counsel to ISDA in the Asia Pacific since 1997 and has been closely involved in the development of derivatives and structured finance in China since 1995. More recently, Mr Liew has advised on a number of Financial Market Infrastructure initiatives in Asia post-GFC including setting up clearing houses for OTC derivatives (OTC Clear Hong Kong and Shanghai Clearing House) as well as the launch of the innovative Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect and various payment and settlement issues for the RMB and RMB products. Mr Liew received a BCL (Master of Law degree) from Oxford University and LLB (Hons) from VUW New Zealand. He is admitted to practise law in Hong Kong, England and Wales, Malaysia and New Zealand. He is a CFA Charterholder and co-author of “Hong Kong Derivatives: Law & Practice”, a leading text on derivatives in Hong Kong and an adjunct professor at the University of Hong Kong.
