Partner and Head of Derivatives and Structured Products Asia (ex Japan)
Chin-Chong Liew is the Head of Derivatives and Structured Products of Linklaters in Asia. Acting as counsel to ISDA in Asia since the 1990's, he has advised on many initiatives and documentation projects throughout Asia. Mr Liew is a pioneer in China having been involved in the GITIC insolvency, CBRC derivatives regulations and various CFETS/NAFMII documentation projects. Recent engagements include advising on setting up of clearing houses (OTC Clear Hong Kong and Shanghai Clearing House) for clearing OTC derivatives, the launch of the innovative Stock Connect and Bond Connect as well as various payment and settlement issues for RMB products. Mr Liew co-authored “Hong Kong Derivatives: Law and Practice” (which is an authoritative textbook on the subject in Hong Kong) and is an adjunct professor at the Department of Law, Hong Kong University. He is qualified in England and Wales, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Malaysia, and is a holder of CFA Charter.
