China’s onshore capital markets continue to internationalise, driving increasing flows of global liquidity into China underlying both onshore and offshore.
We will provide international investors with the most comprehensive range of Chinese securities investments, and support greater outbound investments by working with Mainland regulators and exchanges to expand the Connect programme, giving Mainland citizens the ability to invest in a growing portfolio of underlying that we plan to bring to Hong Kong from global and Asia Pacific markets.
The Connect programme has significantly increased our relevance to international investors as Mainland financial assets are included in international benchmark indices and their weight increases. This will only grow further.
We will enhance the competitiveness of our core business by lowering our barriers to entry and reducing the cost and friction of doing business with us through a range of microstructure improvements and by adopting a global approach.
The rapid acceleration in technological innovation is opening new doors, so we will focus on applying new technologies to modernise our core functions in order to enable greater efficiency in our operations and deliver new services to our market.
We will institute a more data-oriented management culture throughout HKEX and will drive the adoption of integrated management information systems.
We will continue investing in further enhancing our development capabilities, pursue value-added business solutions, and increase our focus on innovations that may offer new business opportunities.
