Best Annual Reports Awards

Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA)

To encourage the publication of annual reports and accounts which are accurate, informative and well-presented to shareholders, employees and others who may have interest in the performance and activities of the organisation in question, the HKMA organises “Best Annual Reports Awards” each year to give recognition to outstanding annual reports published.

HKEX’s 2009 Annual Report was granted the Best Report Award.

Best Corporate Governance Disclosure Awards

Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA)

The HKICPA launched the “Best Corporate Governance Disclosure Awards” in 2000 with the dual objectives of encouraging and promoting good corporate governance disclosures and practices, and acknowledging those locally-listed companies and public sector/not-for-profit organisations that exemplified the best corporate governance standards in Hong Kong, as reflected in their annual reports.

For the second consecutive year, HKEX’s 2009 Annual Report was granted the Platinum Award (Hang Seng Index Category).

Caring Company Award - 5 Consecutive Years

The Hong Kong Council of Social Service

The Caring Company Scheme launched by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service recognises companies which demonstrate good corporate citizenship. The assessment criteria include caring for the community, caring for employees and caring for the environment.

HKEX received the Caring Company Award for the fifth consecutive year in recognition of its good corporate citizenship in 2009/10.

CG Watch 2010 - Corporate Governance in Asia

CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets (CLSA) and Asian Corporate Governance Association (ACGA)

The CLSA and the ACGA jointly surveyed corporate governance issues and progress and published a report “CG Watch 2010 - Corporate Governance in Asia” in September 2010, in which, HKEX was ranked the first among the large-cap companies in Asia in terms of corporate governance.

Corporate and Employee Contribution Programme 2009/10 - Bronze Award

The Community Chest of Hong Kong

The Community Chest of Hong Kong recognises organisations and their employees for their generous contributions made towards the Corporate and Employee Contribution Programme. All donations received are passed on in full to the Chest’s member agencies to provide a wide spectrum of social services for various community groups and needs.

HKEX and its employees received the Bronze Award for their contributions in 2009/10.

HKEX was chosen as one of the recipients of the Corporate Governance Asia Recognition Awards 2010.

Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index - Component Stock

The Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index represents the top 20% of the largest 600 companies in the Asia Pacific developed region in the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index based on long-term economic, environmental and social criteria. The Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index was first calculated in January 2009.

HKEX has been included as a component stock in the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index since September 2010.

FTSE4Good Index Series - Constituent Company

FTSE International Limited

The FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to create a family of benchmark and tradable indices in response to the growing interest in socially responsible investment around the world.

HKEX has been recognised by the FTSE4Good Policy Committee as a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series since September 2005.

Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series - Constituent Company

Hang Seng Indexes Company Limited

The Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series, launched by Hang Seng Indexes Company Limited in July 2010, includes listed companies that have attained a high standard of performance in environmental, social and corporate governance aspects.

HKEX has been selected as an inaugural constituent of the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series.

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Certification 2010/2011

Environmental Protection Department, HKSAR Government

The IAQ Certification Scheme launched by the HKSAR Government promotes the assessment of IAQ of premises/buildings and maintenance of IAQ at a certified level. A voluntary/self-regulatory certification approach is adopted for annual certification.

HKEX’s offices achieved the following certifications:

  • Excellent Class Certification for offices at Exchange Square and PCCW Tower

  • Good Class Certification for offices at Vicwood Plaza, One International Finance Centre, Worldwide House and Chinachem Exchange Square

Oxfam China Development Fund Campaign and Oxfam Corporate Donor Programme 2009-2010 - Fundraising Award, Participation Award and Corporate Donor Excellence Award

HKEX received the following awards in Oxfam China Development Fund Campaign and Oxfam Corporate Donor Programme 2009-2010:

Volunteer Service 2009 - Gold Award

Social Welfare Department, HKSAR Government

Under the Volunteer Movement, a territory wide movement jointly launched by the Social Welfare Department, The Hong Kong Council of Social Service and various NGOs, awards are given to organisations in recognition of their contribution of volunteer service hours to the community.

HKEX received Gold Award for Volunteer Service for its contribution of over 3,000 service hours in 2009.
