Laura M CHA

Chairman , HKEX

Laura M Cha is Chairman of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd and a member of the Financial Leaders Forum in Hong Kong.

Mrs Cha is also an Independent Non-Executive Director of Ant Group Co Ltd, a Senior International Advisor of Foundation Assets Management Sweden AB and a member of Sotheby’s International Advisory Board. In addition, she is also Vice Chairman of the International Advisory Council of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, and a Director of the World Federation of Exchanges.

Mrs Cha became the first, and to-date, the only person outside Mainland China to join the Central Government of the People’s Republic of China at the vice ministerial rank when she was appointed as Vice Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission in January 2001. She served in that position until 2004. Mrs Cha worked for the Securities and Futures Commission in Hong Kong from 1991 to 2000, becoming its Deputy Chairman in 1998.

Mrs Cha was a member of Executive Council of the Government of Hong Kong from 2004 to 2022. She was also Chairman of The Financial Services Development Council of Hong Kong from January 2013 to July 2018, and Chairman of the University Grants Committee from 2007 to 2011.

She was awarded a Silver Bauhinia Star in 2001, a Gold Bauhinia Star in 2009 and the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 2017 by the Hong Kong Government for her public service.

Christopher HUI

Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury

Mr Christopher Hui Ching-yu was appointed the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury on 22 April 2020. He serves on the boards of the Mass Transit Railway Corporation Limited, Hong Kong Airport Authority and also as the Chairman of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Hui was the Executive Director of the Hong Kong Financial Services Development Council. He spent 13 years at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, having been the Managing Director for Market Development and Head of Project Management and also in various senior roles in Listing and Market Development. He also worked for a number of multi-national companies in the private sector. He started his career as an Administrative Officer in the Government in 1999 and served in the Economic Development Branch, the Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing and the Home Affairs Department.

Mr Hui previously held a number of public roles including Councilor of the City University of Hong Kong, Member of the Mandatory Provident Fund Authority Process Review Panel, Hong Kong Stock Exchange Listing Review Committee and also Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants Disciplinary Panel.

Mr Hui holds Bachelor and Master (Hon) Degrees in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford, and Master of Business Administration Degree from INSEAD. He also attended the Stanford Executive Programme (SEP).

Nicolas AGUZIN

Chief Executive Officer , HKEX

Nicolas Aguzin joined HKEX as Chief Executive Officer on 24 May 2021 from J.P. Morgan, where he was most recently Chief Executive Officer of J.P. Morgan’s International Private Bank. Mr Aguzin has been based in Hong Kong since 2012.

From 2013 to 2020, Mr Aguzin was CEO, J.P. Morgan, Asia Pacific where he was responsible for all the firm’s business across 17 markets. Mr Aguzin presided over some of the firm’s major expansion efforts during the period, including establishing itself in China as one of the few international financial institutions with a full range of services and capabilities; including a fully-owned locally incorporated commercial bank, a majority-owned securities company, an asset management company and a futures and options company. Concurrent with his Asia CEO role, Mr Aguzin also ran J.P. Morgan’s Investment Banking division in Asia. During his tenure the bank rose to become one of the leading investment banks in the Asia Pacific region.

Mr Aguzin joined J.P. Morgan in 1990 in Buenos Aires as a financial analyst. Between 1990 and 2005, he held a variety of roles in New York and Buenos Aires, and in 2005 he was appointed as CEO, Latin America. In 2008 and 2009, in addition to his responsibilities as CEO, Latin America and Head of Latin America Investment Banking, he served as Senior Country Officer for Brazil.

Mr Aguzin holds a bachelor degree in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in the US and is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and English.

Managing Director, Head of Market Development and Head of Commodities Development (Acting) , HKEX

Ms Christina Bao, Managing Director, is currently the Head of Market Development and Head of Commodities Development (Acting) at HKEX.

Ms Bao joined HKEX in 2016 as the Chief of Staff, reporting to the CE of HKEX. She was responsible for the planning and oversight of the Group's strategic projects.

Prior to joining HKEX, Christina held a number of senior positions at Ping An Bank (previously at Shenzhen Development Bank, which merged with Ping An Bank in 2010) since 2001. At Shenzhen Development Bank, she served as the Chief of Staff to the Chairman and CEO from 2005 until 2010, and was responsible for the bank's strategic projects, Investor Relations and Public Relations. After the merger and integration of the two banks, she headed Retail e-Banking, Service & Marketing, and the Retail e-Finance Strategic Business Unit for Ping An Bank.

Ms Bao received her Master of Business Administration (Finance, General) from the Peking University of Mainland China.

Head of Commodities and Global Markets (China) , Macquarie Group

Mr Thomas Horn is the Head of CGM China for Macquarie. He has over 22 years experience in investment and commercial banking and has spent more than 15 years involved with clients in Greater China. Mr Horn has significant commodities experience, particularly in Structured Financing, having previously worked in the Commodities and Natural Resources teams at JP Morgan, Barclays and, most recently, at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. He is based in Shanghai and is fluent in Mandarin.

Mr Thomas Horn is the Head of CGM China for Macquarie. He has over 22 years experience in investment and commercial banking and has spent more than 15 years involved with clients in Greater China. Executive Director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer , CCB International

Mr Liu Shoujian is currently the Executive Director and Deputy CEO of CCB International (Holdings) Limited, where he leads the bank’s businesses in investment banking, securities brokerage, futures and stock research. He is also the Chairman of the CCB International Investment Banking Committee. After joining the head office of the China Construction Bank (CCB) in 1995, he was transferred to the Hong Kong office in 2005 and has worked at CCB International, CCB Asia (CCB Hong Kong Branch) and the CCB head office. Mr Liu is well versed in the operation of the financial markets in China and Hong Kong, as well as cross-border investment banking and commercial banking services.

Mr Liu Shoujian is currently the Executive Director and Deputy CEO of CCB International (Holdings) Limited, where he leads the bank’s businesses in investment banking, securities brokerage, futures and stock research. He is also the Chairman of the CCB International Investment Banking Committee. After joining the head office of the China Construction Bank (CCB) in 1995, he was transferred to the Hong Kong office in 2005 and has worked at CCB International, CCB Asia (CCB Hong Kong Branch) and the CCB head office. Head of Research , Sucden Financial

Mr Geordie Wilkes provides insights and comprehensive analysis on macroeconomics, metals, agriculture and the FX markets. He is recognised as a key metals market commentator, authoring Sucden Financial’s daily base metal reports, its benchmark Quarterly Metals Report and in-depth investment research in electric vehicles and the coffee markets. Mr Wilkes joined Sucden Financial in 2016, he holds a degree in Agricultural Economics and is currently completing a Masters in Sustainable Resources and Economics at UCL.

Mr Geordie Wilkes provides insights and comprehensive analysis on macroeconomics, metals, agriculture and the FX markets. Global Head of Metals & Mining , Bloomberg Intelligence

Ms Zhu Yi has more than 15 years of experience in the metals and mining sector. Prior to joining Bloomberg Intelligence, she was a research analyst for Goldman Sachs and the Royal Bank of Scotland in Hong Kong covering commodities. Ms Zhu also has a strong background in industry research and commodity trading, having worked for metal producers including Alcoa in the U.S. and Shenhuo Aluminum in Shanghai.

Ms Zhu received her Masters in Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Fudan University, Shanghai.

General Manager , QME

Dong Feng is the General Manager at Qianhai Mercantile Exchange Co. Ltd (QME). Based in Shenzhen, he is responsible for implementing HKEX’s commodities strategy in Mainland China and for building an innovative commodities trading platform that connects China with the rest of the world.

Prior to joining QME in 2018, Dr Dong was Head of Trading for Precious Metals at ICBC. He has also worked at Ping An Commodities as a general manager and legal representative, and has spent five years in New York working in the hedge fund sector.

Dr Dong has a Bachelor of Science degree from the Peking University of China and a PhD degree in Astrophysics from Princeton University in the United States.

Associate Director , Commodity Futures Department I, Shanghai Futures Exchange

Ms Ge Wanwan, Associate Director in Commodity Futures Department I of Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), joined the SHFE in 2011, and used to work in the Market Compliance Department, Nonferrous Metals Department and Commodity Futures Department I of SHFE. She has also participated in cross-border cooperation and supervision projects in the International Cooperation Department of China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC). She is one of the main R&D personnel of INE Bonded Copper futures.

Ms Ge Wanwan, Associate Director in Commodity Futures Department I of Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), joined the SHFE in 2011, and used to work in the Market Compliance Department, Nonferrous Metals Department and Commodity Futures Department I of SHFE. Associate Dean , Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Dr Liu Shaoxuan, has been the Associate Dean and doctoral supervisor of Antai College of Economics and Management at Shanghai Jiao Tong University since May2019. He is responsible for the MBA, EMBA and EE programs. He received a PhD degree in management at the University of California, Irvine. He worked at Shanghai Jiao Tong University from 2008 to 2016, and served as assistant professor, associate professor, doctoral supervisor of Antai College of Economics and Management, and deputy director of the Division of Liberal Arts of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He was a visiting scholar at the MIT in 2010 and 2013. From 2016 to 2019, he served as the founding Dean and professor of Ningbo China Institute for Supply Chain Innovation (NISCI), an educational and research institute that is jointly established by MIT and the Ningbo municipal government.

Former Vice Chairman , China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association

Mr Wen Xianjun has a Master’s degree in engineering, and is a professor-level senior engineer. He was the vice chairman of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and director of China Nonferrous Metals Fabrication Industry Association. As a well-known expert in the aluminium industry, he is an expert of the Expert Advisory Committee of the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council, an expert of the market operation and control of the Ministry of Commerce, and an advisory member of the Advisory Group of the Technical Committee on Coordination System and Commodity Categorisation of the General Administration of Customs.

Mr Wen Xianjun has a Master’s degree in engineering, and is a professor-level senior engineer. Managing Director and Partner, Lead of DigitalBCG Accelerator Systems in Greater China , Boston Consulting Group

Ms Xu Qin is a Managing Director and Partner of The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). She is a core member of BCG’s Financial Institutions practice with focus on asset management and wholesale banking. She is also the lead of DigitalBCG Accelerator Systems in Greater China. Ms Xu currently serves as an expert member of the Digital Securities Committee of Securities Association of China; she also gives lectures to the Asset Management Association of China. Meanwhile, she’s also the core member of the Market Development Committee of HKFSDC.

Ms Xu has extensive experience in advising leading financial institutions in Greater China. Highlights of her experience in include: Assisted many leading commercial banks, investment banks and security houses, asset managers and financial holding companies in developing and executing strategies; Helped many large global financial institutions enter and grow in Greater China; Helped leading financial institutions carry out digitalisation strategy and transformation

Prior to BCG, Ms. Xu spent a few years working in the Corporate and Investment Banking division in a European bank.

Ms Xu holds a Master of Financial Engineering from ESSEC, and Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of French Literature from Wuhan University.

Ms Xu Qin is a Managing Director and Partner of The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). She is a core member of BCG’s Financial Institutions practice with focus on asset management and wholesale banking. She is also the lead of DigitalBCG Accelerator Systems in Greater China.
