Pursuant to s77 of the Securities and Futures Ordinance, 6 members of the Board are subject to appointment by the Financial Secretary of Hong Kong. In practice, all candidates to be appointed to the Board are nominated by the Nomination and Governance Committee of HKEX. Nominations for Directors subject to appointment under the Securities and Futures Ordinance are submitted by the Nomination and Governance Committee to the Financial Secretary for consideration for appointment.
